Below are some of the knives I have forged. I forge many styles and types of blades, each with its own personality. Each blade is unique in its own way. Sometimes I let the steel itself dictate the form of a knife as I forge the shape. I can make you any blade style
you prefer! |
I have a wide variety of
handle material available. Let me know what you would like! I am available, via email for a request. paul_piccola@att.net I do not normally require a deposit, and I am only available to give you a tentative delivery date. When the knife is finished, then you decide if its what you want and then pay for it! Knives available for sale are on the Available page! I will make stainless knives by stock removal method. BUT only by request and with a $50 deposit! I only use CPMS30V, ATS34, or 154CM stainless steels. |

Hunter This Hunter is hand forged from 5160 tool steel. The hidden tang knife is 9 inches overall, with a 4 1/4 inch spear point blade. Differentially heat treated in oil. (Edge Quenched) Doubled tempered at 350°F, for two hours each time in a Paragon treating oven. The handle is York Gum Burl. Knife is finished with nickel sliver mosaic pins and a stainless steel guard. Comes with a Kenny Rowe sheath! |

Whitetail Skinner This skinner is forged from 1084 tool steel. Laying next to my 2.2 lb hammer, it is easy to see the 4 1/2" blade and 3 1/4" Hawaiian Koa wood handle with 6 brass pins. Small enough to carry easy, but large enough to use effectively. Hand rubbed Teak oil finish. I have a variety of woods available for handles! |

Gentlemans Bowie This little fellow is made from 5160 steel. The handle is desert ironwood burl. The guard and pins are nickle silver. Knife is comes with a Kenny Rowe sheath inlaid with sting ray skin! Click on image to see the together! |

Damascus
Bowie I made this steel from 15N20, 1084 and O1
steels, 68 layers. Knife is 13 1/2" overall, with 8 1/2" blade.
This knife is very fast! Nickel Silver guard. The Sambar Crown stag has
Damascus steel insert with two Nickel Silver pins. Comes with a Kenny
Rowe Sheath! |

heat treated in oil. (Edge Quenched) The temper line is visible! The knife is 10" overall, with a 5-5/8" blade. |

Hunter
This hunter is a stock removal blade of ATS34 steel. The
full tang knife measures 11 3/4 inches overall with a 7
inch blade. This blade was heat treated in its entire
length using the Paragon oven at temp of 1950 °F . Then temper twice for two hours at 600°F. Giving a
rockwell hardness around 58. The handle is black linen
micarta with brass pins and guard. |

Bowie This knife is CPMS30V Stainless. The blade
is 7 3/4", with the over all length at 12 3/4". The handle is
Desert Ironwood. Pins and bolsters are nickel silver. The
temper was drawn at 625 degrees. The finished blade tested a RC 58.
Comes with a Kenny Rowe leather sheath! |

I forged this bowie style
fighter from 1084 tool steel. The cutting blade measures 10" and is sharp on the top for about 5". It is 15 1/8"
overall. The handle is Coolibah burl with 1/4" nickel silver pins
and guard. Comes with a Kenny Rowe sheath! |

Drop point blade from 1084 tool steel with
Esal burl
(one of the desert eucalyptus burls) handle, stainless steel pins and bolsters. Differentially heat treated in oil. (Edge Quenched) The temper line is visible! 1-1/2 inches of "thumb traction" on the top spine to help you control the blade during skinning! This knife is surprisingly light weight, balanced at the guard and fast! 1/4 inch lanyard hold at the butt. The knife is 10 1/4" overall, with a 5 1/2" blade. |

D-Guard Bowie
This D guard bowie is 1084, 01, and 15n20 steels in a 208 layer wolf tooth pattern damascus blade. The handle is whisky barrel oak. The guard was forge from a bar of wrought iron from a fence built in the early 1900's. The blade is 8 1/2" , overall it is 12 3/4 " Comes with a Kenny Rowe Sheath! |

This hunter has a York Gum Burl handle. Made from 5160 steel with stainless pins. The stainless guard is accented with a Sterling silver and a red insert. The knife has a 3 3/4" blade and is 8 1/4" overall. Comes with a Kenny Rowe sheath. |

This bowie is made from 1084 steel. The pins and guard are nickel silver, the handle is Australian ring gidgee wood with several coats of Tung oil. The blade is 6 1/4" and the knife overall is 11 1/4. This knife come with a Kenny Rowe sheath. |

This little blade was designed for
cutting round bale twine after you deposited the bales in the field. Small, easy carry, and sharp! Blade is 5160 steel, handle is Sambar stag. Blade length is 4 1/4", and over all its 7 1/4". This knife will work very well for grafting and pruning work also! |

This knife was a joint effort by ABS Mastersmith Roger Massey and myself! I forged this blade from 15n20, 1084, and O1 tool steels for the 2005 Four States Iron Munchers Blacksmith Club give away knife. The knife has 10 inch blade of 304 layer Damascus steel made from 15n20, 1084, and O1 tool steels. Roger did the finish work and put the Cocobolo handle on. |
